A One-Day Workshop On Understanding Diversity
With Avoiding And Dealing With Sexual Harassment

Presented By: Steve M. Cohen, Ed. D.

Overview:

The notion of diversity is introduced and explained. This topic is explored from a gender, racial, and behavioral basis. It is anticipated that the attendee will begin to appreciate that different is not worse, it is just different, and may actually be better!

One of the more controversial issues of today's politically correct era is sexual harassment in the workplace. There are steps which can be taken to diminish the likelihood of sexual harassment occurring in your organization. This program overviews the steps associated with taking preventative measures such as developing a policy and procedure that forbids sexual harassment

The program then goes on to provide insight and instruction on how to handle an allegation of sexual harassment when it is brought to your attention. This activity involves interviewing the accused. Once the accused has provided the details of her story, then an interview or interviews with any individuals who may have witnessed the harassment or may be in a position to know about the alleged harassment.

Then, finally, an interview with the accused is required. Following these steps, the attendee will learn how to factor in the issue of credibility in rendering a decision as to whether the allegation is founded or unfounded. The program is both factual and tools-oriented. The attendee will view a video, receive extensive handout materials and will participate in small-group activities.
